Eclipse Day

Well did anyone manage to spot the partial eclipse today?

The event took place this morning between 10.45 and 11.45 am. Although the signs didn't look to good when I took Quidditch over for a diesel fill up. We were hit with some hefty downpours en route.
However, once I'd arrived back at the pontoon I did manage to catch a 5 minute glimpse around 11.25am due to some nice breaks in the cloud.
Being well prepared for the event I had my 'Eclipse Shades' and camera at the ready. I'd fortunately kept my shades from the 1999 UK total eclipse.
What surprises me about the whole event is the amount of people who are completely oblivious to the whole thing! "What the hell are you doing" came one remark. "Are you nuts mate" came another! Once I'd explained what was going on everyone wanted a go with the shades. Oh well maybe I'm just a sucker for the delights of our natural world but I love it!

Solar Eclipse

This coming Wednesday March 29th see's a total eclipse of the sun in Turkey.

A partial eclipse will be visible over most of Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Most of central UK will see the Sun 20% covered, 30% in the far south-east. I think everyone should see at least at 1 total eclipse in thier lifetime. Mine occured in 1999 when we were lucky enough to have one in the UK. Although the weather was appalling for most parts of the country, in Cornwall, where I chose to view it the weather brightened just at the right time! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
So on Wednesday I'll be there ready and waiting. Although only a partial eclipse it's still well worth the effort. Here's hoping the weather holds out! To view details of where the eclipse can be seen best, plus times etc visit My Blog-Link which has been specially set up for the event.

Early Easter Eggs!

A little bird left me something this
morning!
st patrick's day 2006
About a week ago while taking the opportunity to wash the roof I noticed that one of my plant troughs had been dug out, soil stroon all over the pontoon. In summer my troughs would be sitting proud on the roof fully planted. During the Winter months thier removed and placed on the pontoon next to 'Quidditch'. One lonely plant had survived all thru' the Winter and my thoughts were that it offered too much of a quick meal for one of our resident duck community and I didn't give it any further thought.

Imagine my surprise this afternoon when while checking my ropes I suddenly discovered why the trough had been dug out. There within lies 3 duck eggs! So far I've not spotted the mother but I'm keeping a keen vigil over the proceedings.
